Welcome to the

Michiana Family YMCA

The Michiana Family YMCA strengthens the foundations of our community through well-being and fitness, camps, family time, swim, sports and play, and other activities for people of all ages, incomes and abilities. We’re more than just a place to work out. At the Y, we help build a healthy spirit, mind and body for all with the core values of caring, honesty, respect and responsibility at the heart of everything we do.

With a commitment to nurturing youth development, promoting healthy living, and fostering a sense of social responsibility, the Y ensures that every individual has access to the essentials needed to learn, grow and thrive.

NEWS FROM THE Y

MAKE A RESOLUTION FOR A HEALTHY 2012

At the Y, we are nurturing the potential of all kids, promoting healthy living and fostering a sense of social responsibility, particularly at this special time of year.

“We want to remind everyone in the community that healthy living is a year-round goal,” says Lori Borders, group fitness coordinator at the Michiana Family YMCA. “While we might treat ourselves to a few special holiday extras, staying committed to fitness goals can offset some over-indulgences.”

The Michiana Family YMCA will be closing early Saturday, December 24 at 3pm, and remain closed through December 25.

We will be open with regular hours and all scheduled fitness classes on Monday, December 26 (5:45 am-10:00 pm).

Hours of operation will be unchanged for New Year’s weekend: Saturday 7:00 am – 6:00 pm and Sunday 1:00-5:00 pm.

If you have free time over the Christmas break, check out Zumba class (two on Saturday morning!!), try Tabata Thursday night or Cross Training several times during the week. Yoga and Pilates are great ways to reduce stress and reflect on your goals for 2012. Water fitness classes are also planned, 11:30 on Monday, 9:00 am or 6:00 pm Tuesday and Thursday.

Two new group fitness classes will be added in January: Tuesday at 7:00 am, a strength training class; and, Thursday at 7:00 am, a kickboxing class.

Hours for open and family swim or gym times are posted on the website. The newly remodeled free weight room, cardio room and racquetball/handball courts are all open as usual.

Child Watch is an active experience for infants and kids that offered at no additional cost to full members (and at a nominal rate for non-members) participating in activities on-site at the Y.

The Y is committed to providing programs that build a healthy spirit, mind and body for all. We make every effort to ensure that no one is turned away due to inability to pay.
