Bring your friend or family member to the Y with you! Guests 16 and older must have valid ID. Kids under 16 will be welcomed with an adult. During very busy hours, we may limit guest visits. Guest rates per visit: Youth $6/Adult $8.

Refund Policy

Membership and joining fees are nonrefundable. Rarely, but in some cases, we may cancel a program if class enrollment is not sufficient. In the event we must cancel a program, a full refund or class credit will be issued. We understand that sometimes it becomes necessary for a Member to cancel a program or class. Refunds in this case will be at the discretion of the Program Director.

Age Regulations

We welcome members of all ages! We want all kids and families to safely use the Y. Please be sure your child (11 and under) is enrolled in a supervised activity or with you at all times. Children under the age of 12 cannot be dropped off or left unattended at the Y.

Children 12-14 are invited to use the Cardio Room with direct parental supervision. Children over the age of 15 may use the Free Weight Room.

Security

We take the safety and security of our members very seriously. Please check in at our Welcome Center and show your card every time you visit. Every adult entering our facilities must show a photo ID.

Please bring any specific concerns to our attention immediately so we may take the appropriate measures to ensure your safety and improve the experience for all.

Open Swim

Swimming is great for families who want to make a big splash with their time together! Children 11 and under must be accompanied by an adult during Open Swim. See our current schedule for times.

Cell Phone Usage

Cell phones are only permitted in designated areas of the Michiana Family YMCA. Cell phone use in locker room areas is prohibited.

Personal Belongings

Please take special care in locking up all personal belongings in both the locker rooms and in your vehicle. The Michiana Family YMCA is not responsible for lost or stolen articles.

Photo Policy

We occasionally photograph members participating in programs and classes for promotional purposes. If you wish to be excluded, please inform us.

Suspension/Loss of Membership

Members and guests fighting, using foul/abusive language or other misuse of membership privileges are subject to suspension of membership privileges at the discretion of staff on duty.

MEMBER EXPECTATIONS

• Angry or vulgar language including swearing, name-calling, or shouting.


• Intentional physical contact with another person in an angry, threatening, or sexual manner.


• Any demonstration of sexual activity.


• Harassment or intimidation by words or gestures, body language, or any other menacing behavior.


• Inappropriate attire.


• Theft or behavior that results in the destruction of property.


• Carrying, or concealing weapons or devices or objects that may be used as weapons.


• Using or possessing illegal chemicals or alcohol on Y property, Y vehicles, or at Y sponsored programs.


• Chronic disregard for Y policies.


• Any other conduct that is inappropriate, threatening, or offensive in nature.


• Smoking is not permitted in or outside the YMCA. The YMCA and its property is a smoke-free environment.


• The use of cell phones with cameras and all other camera or video recording devices are PROHIBITED in all bathrooms, locker rooms and changing areas.

Sex Offender Policy

The YMCA of Michiana, Inc. is concerned with the safety and wellbeing of our members and participants. Furthermore, it is contrary to the mission of the YMCA of Michiana, Inc. for a member, guest or program participant to be a sex offender. Therefore, membership, access to YMCA facilities and/or participation in YMCA programming may be prohibited by the President/CEO to anyone convicted of a criminal sex offense or anyone who is listed on the Sex and Violent Offender Registry (the “Registry”).

New members will be scanned upon application for membership. The full DAXKO database will be scanned once every 4 months. If in this process it is discovered that a current member, guest or participant appears on the Registry or has been convicted of a criminal sex offense, that individual’s membership, access to facilities and/or program participation may promptly be terminated in writing and a pro-rata percentage of any prepaid membership and/or program fees returned. Termination notices must advise members, guests and program participants of their right to appeal, as outlined below. Family members will remain welcome to attend the YMCA, however, prohibited individuals are not authorized to come onto YMCA property or attend YMCA events without prior written permission from the President/CEO.

Any current member, guest, program participant or membership applicant who is denied membership, access or participation under this policy shall have the right to appeal for reasons included but not limited to cases of mistaken identity or an erroneous listing in the Registry. Appeals must be made within 1 month. A note will be added to the DAXKO Account of all terminated members stating that access is to be denied without approval from the President/CEO. The reason for termination or prohibition shall not be disclosed in such note or made available to staff members. Staff must report any appearances by a terminated or prohibited individual to the Director of Operational Excellence.

Any exceptions to this policy must be authorized by the President/CEO.
